Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
